Leo Smith Wins Harold Morence Memorial

The Affordable Tire and Service Center Pro Late Models were on hand for the running of the Harold Morence Memorial 54-lap feature.

Jason Felver would pace the field down to the green flag for the 54-lap event. Early on points leader Leo Smith would work his way up through the field, and would be on Felver’s back bumper by the time five laps were in. Smith would work on Felver until lap seven when he took over the lead for himself. Felver would keep Smith within striking distance, but wouldn’t be able to do anything with him until lap 30, when he was able to get back by on a restart.

Felver would command the top spot until lap 39 with Smith was able to get back by after another restart. This time he would hold onto the lead for good as Leo Smith picked up the win, his third of the 2011 season. Jason Felver would come home second with Jimmy O. Smith, David McManus and Ryan Etchison rounding out the top five. Heat races went to Ryan Etchison and Blake Childers. Mark Welch was the Midwest Racing Scene Fast Qualifier with a 16.342.
