The final feature of the evening would be one of the most dramatic and exciting features in the extensive history of the Big “O,” for the Shiawassee Shores Pure Stocks 30-lap feature. Lonnie Saumier would start on the pole, but very quickly he and Jim Gokee would battle around the 3/8s (.375) mile oval. The two drivers would make slight contact off of two, forcing Jim Gokee’s hood to fly up, and causing the Owosso, Michigan driver to exit the track. Saumier would continue to set the pace, now having his hands full with Jim Gokee’s brother, Rick Gokee Jr. Saumier would hold the spot, until lap 22 when Saumier’s car would sputter off of turn four. The Davison, Michigan driver would pull off the track, handing the lead over to Gokee Jr. Gokee Jr. but Scott Beach would be all over him for the lead. The two drivers would race side by side, lap after lap, as Beach inched closer. As the checkered flag fell, the two drivers crossed the line at a near dead heat. Video review would show Scott Beach taking the win by the slimmest of margins, Rick Gokee Jr. was second with Russ Cords, Andrew Burton and Eric Lake completing the top five. Jim Gokee won the Fast Car Dash, while Jake Thompson claimed the Australian Pursuit. Qualifier heats went to Doug Wirsing, Gokee Jr. and Thompson. Pat Standley was the top qualifier with an 18.931.
