Dale Spencer, the one who’s done it all. Dale has been racing for 24 years now, and has raced in every single division. He has been primarily focusing on the Modified class in his #555 race car. So, we all know of Dale Spencer but what are some of his accomplishments that have made him so well known? Well, he was the youngest person to ever set a perfect light (if you’re unfamiliar, it is within drag racing), got second in points at Owosso Speedway in 2019 by a five point difference, and was the 2021 Modified rookie of the year at Owosso Speedway. Like many others, Dale grew up in Ovid, MI, in a racing family. His mom (Michele) and his dad (Ron) actually owned a machine shop, so it’s fair to say that his whole life has been involved in motorsports. Even during the off-season he promotes the winter mini wedge series, which leaves no time for anything else. He used to like bowling a lot, but racing has impeded on that a little bit. Dale’s favorite part of racing is that you can meet new people and hang out with your friends while doing something everyone enjoys. Obviously, as a big time racer he has taken on some losses. In his point of view, losers don’t win. It’s as simple as that. To Dale, it’s not a loss, but more so a learning experience. You can never get better if you don’t learn from your mistakes. Part of Dale’s learning curve throughout his switch to the Modified division has been Blake Rowe and Nick Lechota. He looks up to them because they are successful, knowledgeable, and very helpful. They have both helped him out a ton when it comes to the set-up of his Modified. Of course, his parents and cousins are a great crew to help on race nights, too. Dale’s favorite track to race at is, hands-down, Owosso Speedway. He said “it’s just not comparable” and it’s like home for him. He will be at Owosso Speedway as much as possible for the 2023 season. He likes Jeff Parish’s management and promotional style, so he is excited to be back “home” and experience it all in person. He is even building a brand new Purestock to race part-time, that we can’t wait to see in 2023! He has a great group of sponsors: Rowe Portable Welding, TWI Installations, Country Kitchen, Backroad Beaute’ Salon, AMSOIL Lubricants, Owosso Owls Nest, Roma’s Back Door, AT Racing Engines, and We Buy Cars. The opportunities to try his hand in new classes and build new cars is only feasible because of the help from his sponsors and his race crew. They have given him a leg up in what is, and will be, a great motorsports career!
