Kenedi Jernigan is one of our great female drivers. She is a 17-year-old from Morrice, MI and has been racing the #88 Front Wheel Drive for a total of four years now. Kenedi's mom, Bobbi Jo, also races, and her little sister, Riley, will start racing during the 2023 season. However, surprisingly, Kenedi's mom racing isn't what got her into it. Kenedi's racing career actually started based on a bet with her dad, J.R., and she has been hooked ever since. Apparently, they were spectators at a local race track and she looked at her dad and said "I could do that" and he doubted her, so naturally she got her first car in 2019 to prove herself right. Since then, she has won her first heat race in 2020, has set a total of three fast times, and has taken home four wins. Kenedi has made a lot of great friends in the short period that she has been racing, which is her favorite part of the whole ordeal. Through racing, she has been able to build a ton of great bonds with people that have grown close to her. Kenedi is learning to be a great race car driver, which means that she is learning how to handle her losses too. She likes to make light of a loss and throw a few jokes out there with her family and then move on. I think that it is a great way to handle a loss, versus letting it result in negativity or conflict. Her absolute favorite track to race at is, of course, Owosso Speedway. Kenedi said that it is so much fun for her and her family, and it's the fastest! She is super excited to get back to racing in 2023 to see all of the new changes at Owosso Speedway, to be faster on the new asphalt, and to help her sister learn to race.
