Bobbi Jo Jernigan is one of our very own female power-houses! Bobbi Jo has been a driver in the Front Wheel Drive class as #38 for four seasons now. Her daughter Kenedi (17) has been racing with her for a couple years now, and her other daughter Riley (14) is starting her very first race season in 2023. Talk about the ultimate mother-daughter-daughter race team! The Jernigan family is from Morrice, MI and they all have a love for adrenaline and auto racing. Bobbi Jo grew up with her dad racing and it was instilled in her at a young age, however it wasn’t exactly a plan of hers to start a racing career. Her daughter Kenedi was in an accident while racing and was scared to go back out to race for a little bit. So, Bobbi Jo decided to try it out in Kenedi’s car and was instantly hooked! Since then, she has taken wins at every track she has competed at and she was able to finish 4th in points in the Outlaw FWD division for the 2022 season at Owosso Speedway! While racing with Kenedi, the mother and daughter duo have been able to finish in first and second place together at Owosso Speedway on multiple occasions. Now with Riley joining the club, we can’t wait to see what this trio can bring to the track in 2023. Bobbi Jo describes herself as an adrenaline junkie, which I think all of us in motorsports can relate to. Bobbi Jo’s favorite part of the sport is the high speeds and the fact that she can be competitive in a male dominant sport. She knows that she is up against men that have been racing for a lot longer than her, but that doesn’t deter Bobbi Jo. She tries her absolute best every race night and takes her losses like a grain of salt. She thinks about what she can do to be better for the next race and finds out what wasn’t set up right in order to continue making improvements. Russ Cords has been a huge asset to the Jernigan team when it comes to equipment and the set-up of their cars. He is Bobbi Jo’s idol in this sense, because he is so competitive and likes to help the underdogs. Bobbi Jo’s favorite track to race at is Owosso Speedway! Besides the fact that it is a fast track with 3 or 4 wide racing, she loves that most of them can get along and that there are so many great people that help to put on the shows. During the off-season, Bobbi Jo loves to spend time with her family, do anything that involves speed, and plan out the next race season. Speaking of next race season, we get to see her daughter Riley start racing for the very first time in 2023 and Bobbi Jo is going to work on getting dialed in and faster in order to bring home more wins.
