Mr. Duane Damon is another very serious driver of ours who has been in motorsports for a long time. Duane has been racing for 21 years now and drives in both the Purestock and Street Stock class as #2. He is from Burton, MI and started out in racing by working in a safety truck for 10 years before finally strapping into a race car. His favorite part of racing is the adrenaline rush he gets every single time the green flag gets thrown and the crowd starts to cheer. It proved to be worth all the work when he felt that rush before he won Figure 8 championships in both 2007 and 2008.
Now, we all know racing means so much to him, and he has shown his passion for auto racing very well in the past, but he has learned that it’s okay to lose, let things go, and to simply have fun. Duane doesn’t have anything new planned for the 2023 race season, but if it’s not broken, then why fix it, right? However, during the off-season, he loves to hunt as much as possible, while working on getting the car prepared for opening night.
He has had the opportunity to travel to plenty of different tracks during his racing career. One of his favorites is Winchester Speedway because it is such a big track and is so fast. Duane is still extremely excited to get back to Owosso Speedway and do what he loves most in a great family atmosphere. His wife, Stacey, and his brother, Dave, have been with him every step of the way and are there on every race night to support him as his race crew. Just like other drivers, he has a great group of sponsors that support him, as well. Duane is sponsored by Finish Line Seamless Gutters, Performance Auto, O’leary Garage, and Top Speed Motorsports. Duane has created so many memories at Owosso Speedway, so far, and we can’t wait for him to continue to be a part of all of the great things yet to come!
