Eric Hoffman is the driver of the MCR Dwarf car number 97X. He is from Wyoming, MI and has been racing Dwarfs since 1997. He is a six-time MCR champion, a runner-up eleven times, and 1998 Rookie of the Year. Not to mention his 75+ wins that he has brought home ever since his first feature win in 1999. Eric has been a huge race fan for years; it's actually what got him into racing initially. He loved being at the races and watching the drivers work so hard to accomplish so much, so one day he got the idea to try it once and get it out of his system. Well, now it has been 26 years, and he still hasn't gotten it out of his system yet! Eric has a great system of supporters by his side too. Between his wife (Angie), his brother (Tim), his nephew (Troy), his dad (Elmer), and his sisters (Pat, Deb, and Lisa), he never has a shortage of help when it comes to his racing career. Let alone all of the other club drivers that help him out when he needs it and all of his sponsors. He is sponsored by L&K Concrete, Hoffman Motorsports, Outlaw Chassis Dwarf Cars, Inspirit Church, and Hawkeye Speedshop. His supporters and his fans are what drive him back to the track, week in and week out. They are the best part of racing for him. Of course, there are always hard nights and losses, but he has learned how to handle them. While he used to be pretty bitter on those rough nights, especially when he lost a championship by just one point, he has learned to roll with the punches and accept the results for what they are. Eric and I talked a lot about his racing career and someone who has been his idol in racing for a long time. In 1979, there was a terrible blizzard in Michigan, so Eric had to stay home and was able to watch the Daytona 500. During the final lap of the race, first and second place got into a bit of a tussle and Richard Petty was able to skate past it and take the checkered flag. From that point forward, he has been a driver that Eric has always idolized. It wasn't the ones that led every lap up until then, it was Richard Petty because he waited things out and kept doing his thing and that showed results at the end. Eric Hoffmann has had a long history in racing and has had the privileges of racing all over the states. He has been to 28 different tracks in 6 different states, to be exact. However, Owosso Speedway is one that he keeps coming back to. "You couldn't keep me away with a stick," he said. It is simply Owosso Speedway and it speaks for itself. He is another one of our drivers that is constantly consumed by the world of motorsports. His off-season is spent building race cars, fixing race cars, and scheduling races for the next season. Speaking of which, for the 2023 season, Eric plans on going back to a part-time schedule and renting out his race car. So while we won't be seeing him as much as we would like, I am sure he will make it memorable the times we do.
