Up next, we have our own lady champion, Barbara Boone. She hails from Montrose, MI and has been racing for a total of 9 years. Growing up with her cousin and uncle racing, it was a freak accident that finally gave her the push to hit the track. One day, a tree fell directly onto her grandmother's van. This led to everyone using it for different races until Barbara finally entered it in the Lipstick Ladies division. She has turned a bad situation into a good one and worked hard to become the best driver she can be in her #66 Chevy Cavalier.
Barbara has placed second in both 2018 and 2019, and she won the Lipstick Ladies division championship in 2021. She loves meeting new people, but her favorite part of racing is when people ask if she's a driver and she can see the excitement on their faces. It's a proud moment for her every time. She's an observant person, which is a valuable trait in motorsports, and constantly watches races to learn from others' mistakes and improve her own driving. With the support of her husband Charlie and daughter Chevelle, she strives to be better every day.
In the off-season, Barbara enjoys being a grandmother and finding race car parts for Charlie. This year, 2023, she will be a new driver at Owosso Speedway in the Front Wheel Drive division. While she has been there many times to support her husband Charlie, now it's her turn to take on the high banks of Owosso Speedway. She will have her great race crew with her, including her husband, father-in-law (also named Charlie), and brother Jason NaVarre. Barbara views this change in her racing career as an opportunity to race while supporting her husband, and here's to an amazing season ahead for all of us!
